Presagis Sensor Products bring together a comprehensive set of optional modules and tools for the development of correlated and accurate IR and NVG scenes.

From sensor material classification to atmospheric definition to adding realistic sensor effects to scenes, Presagis Sensor Products cover the full spectrum of requirements for the development and deployment of accurate, correlated sensor applications. With Vega Prime IR Scene, users can add real-time quantitative sensor displays to any Vega Prime application, and Vega Prime IR Sensor is ideal for adding realistic sensor effects to scenes, including night vision goggles (NVG) and medium and long wave IR devices.

Integration

Delivered as integrated Vega Prime modules, IR and NVG displays can be easily added to any Vega Prime application. Sensor displays can be developed through either the LynX Prime graphical user interface for greater efficiency and productivity or through a C++ Application Programming Interface (API) for increased flexibility. Numerous samples are provided to enhance productivity out-of-the-box.

Correlation

IR and NVG displays use the same geometry and are fully correlated with the out-the-window visual environment.

Realism and Accuracy

Vega Prime IR Scene computes and displays quantitative sensor images of natural features, cultural features, and dynamic objects at real-time frame rates. With the Vega Prime IR/NVG Sensor Module, users can add realistic sensor effects to scenes generated with Vega Prime IR Scene to match the characteristics of a wide range of sensors.

Key Features

Terra Vista Material Classification Module

The Terra Vista Material Classification Module prepares and creates the sensor textures used by the scene generation software to accurately render the characteristics of the sensor scene. The module provides the accurate generation of large area geo-specific IR and NVG capable Virtual Textures, as well as geo-typical sensor texture generation tools.

Terra Vista Texture Material Mapper (TMM)

TMM is an offline tool that performs the material classification of textures in a visual/sensor database. With TMM, the materials themselves are contained in a user-extensible database that also includes descriptions according to wavelength-dependent reflectance, heat-transfer, and radar properties. TMM is included with licenses of the Terra Vista Mat. TMM is an offline tool that performs the material classification of textures in a visual/sensor database.

Vega Prime IR Scene

Vega Prime IR Scene computes and displays quantitative sensor images of any environment containing natural features, cultural features, and dynamic objects. Sensor Products utilize OpenFlight, the same source geometry as Vega Prime, and provides fully correlated out-the-window and sensor views.

Vega Prime IR Sensor

Vega Prime IR Sensor allows users to add realistic sensor effects to scenes generated with Vega Prime IR Scene that match the characteristics of a wide variety of sensors, including electro-optical (EO) imagers, night vision goggles (NVGs), and medium and long wave infrared devices.

Vega Prime Atmospheric Module

The Vega Prime Atmospheric Module is an offline GUI-based tool that provides the atmospheric properties used in a sensor scene—including geographical location and atmospheric conditions—along with computed data—including solar and lunar energy reaching surfaces and surface temperatures—that are relevant for a given simulation. This module is used for calculating atmospheric transmission and radiance at low altitudes for line-of-sight paths within the atmosphere and for paths that intersect with the earth’s surface.

Delivery of accurate sensor views in an application can be one of the biggest challenges facing a developer.

Challenges & Trends


Correlation is key and a lot is required to ensure the different pieces of the application will successfully work together. From tagging the virtual environment with the appropriate sensor signature material to generation of images of the sensor algorithm and actual visualization, providing a realistic, accurate, quantitative sensor simulation display is a complex and time consuming task.

The Solution


Presagis offers a number of sensor simulation products that are developed to deliver the realism and fidelity required to simulate real-world visual sensor displays. These extensible modules plug directly into the Vega Prime environment, and use the same synthetic environments as Vega Prime for correlated out-the-window, NVG, infrared, and radar views.

Using this toolkit approach, users can easily control and extend the parameters, as well as modify the results.

The available functionality includes the ability to create realistic NVG and infrared effects such as blooming, persistence, random temporal noise, and jitter. Vega Prime Radar offers multiple modes including DBS, RBGM, SAR, and ISAR.

STAGE, using its internal sensor model can simulate radar behaviors and interactions out-of-the-box. Due to its great flexibility STAGE can also replace this internal module with a specific 3rd party module depending on the fidelity  expected for the simulated sensors.

The content creation software from Presagis help with the radar signature definitions for the 3D models simulated.
