The Simpack Engine Modules facilitate the simulation of individual valves or complete valve trains, aiding in the analysis of crankshaft operation. They include dedicated modules for simulating springs and entire chain systems. Additionally, the Simpack Engine Modules support the analysis of the timing mechanism, as well as engine noise and vibration.
Simpack Dynamic Spring, Multi Mass Model
This module utilizes a 1D multi-mass description that incorporates spring dynamics and nonlinear behavior resulting from oscillating coil masses and coil-coil contact. The Dynamic Spring Multi Mass Model is a discretized model composed of rigid masses.
Simpack Dynamic Spring, Flexible Model + Segment Multi Mass Model
The Simpack SIMBEAM Valve Spring Model is based on a 3D flexible beam description that incorporates spring dynamics and nonlinear behavior from coil-coil contact. It accounts for spring widening, twisting, and lateral movement. From a detailed SIMBEAM spring pre-processing model, a 1D segment multi-mass model can be automatically generated, providing high detail in vertical spring behavior while optimizing calculation time.
Simpack Chain
Simpack Chain allows users to simulate chain systems, including roller and bushed chains, silent (or inverted tooth) chains, and smart chains. The module offers full elasticity for link-link, link-sprocket, and link-guide contact, with all guides modeled as flexible bodies. Friction is computed for all contact definitions, and all calculated quantities, such as forces and frictional power, are readily accessible.
