CZone for Abaqus is a new add-on for Abaqus/Explicit that provides a powerful methodology for crush simulation, based on CZone technology from Engenuity Ltd. This tool supports the design of composite components and assemblies in the Automotive and Aerospace industries by incorporating material crush behavior into FEA simulations of composite structures under impact.
CZone technology enables the direct implementation of crush-based element force and failure within designated crush zones, typically positioned at the forward edges of the structure in contact with the impactor.
The behavior of the composite structure beyond the crush zone is simulated using existing Abaqus capabilities to address potential delamination, damage, fracture, and buckling. CZone for Abaqus results guide modifications to optimize the placement, thickness, construction, and geometry of crush structures, enhancing their energy-absorbing capacity.
Supported Platforms
CZone for Abaqus is supported on all systems for which Abaqus/Explicit is supported and works with Abaqus 6.8-2 and up.
