Abaqus/Explicit is an explicit-dynamic finite-element solver ideal for simulating short transient and dynamic events, such as drop tests, automotive crashes, and ballistic impacts, thanks to its ability to handle nonlinear behavior efficiently. Its strengths also make it suitable for quasi-static simulations like the rolling of hot metal or slow crushing of energy-absorbing structures. Abaqus/Explicit is designed with ease of use, reliability, and efficiency, making it well-suited for production environments. It integrates seamlessly with the Abaqus/CAE modeling environment for pre- and post-processing. Additionally, Abaqus/Explicit and Abaqus/Standard can be coupled, allowing simulations to transition between the two solvers based on the solution needs, with Abaqus/Explicit handling explicit-dynamic scenarios and Abaqus/Standard managing parts better suited to implicit solvers.
