ICEM, the world leader in Class A Surface solutions announced the availability of ICEM Surf 4.7.2. With this maintenance release, ICEM is providing an update of ICEM Surf with a few bug fixes. The fixed bugs are as follows:
• ICEM Surf has no more display errors when function windows under MS Windows are closed.
• A bug fix in curve trimming has been introduced: it was impossible to trim when the limitation was ending on the curve.
• ICEM Surf does not terminate any longer when special characters are entered in text fields via a German character set.
• Also the performance of the deviation diagnosis has been improved.
Some further bugs of ICEM Surf 4.7 have been already fixed with the maintenance release 4.7.1. There particular emphasis has been placed on the stability of the Matching Profile and Addenda functions. Other major bug fixes include Plot function, Reference Manager and Facing.
ICEM Surf 4.7 includes, among other things, significant new and improved geometric modeling functions, as well as comprehensive enhancements in the area of visualization providing new capabilities for digital reviews, all in real time. New geometric functions include new possibilities for global modeling of complex surface and curve topologies.
The “volume” modeling function places the reference geometry inside a 3 dimensional cube and enables sophisticated global manipulation and deformation of the model, allowing rapid variant and “what if” scenarios. With the implementation of G3 or “torsion” matching in the Global Blend, Curve Blend and within Unified Modeling the Transition command ICEM Surf 4.7 provides a significant increase in the quality across boundaries.
In addition to new functionality extensive algorithmic enhancements have also been made throughout the ICEM Surf 4.7 release providing improved control of order, segmentation and smoothing of surfaces and curves in all areas of creation and modification.
Other key developments, including an extension of entities supported by the ICEM DB format, enhancements to the file browser and a new option of Automatic License Releases are all designed to enable users to work more productively using their preferred process and workflow. The ICEM Surf 4.7 visualization environment has been extensively enhanced to introduce a new level of realism to digital reviews.
New navigation options accurately represent a real “walk around” experience and the support of new technologies such as SLI provides considerable graphic acceleration during photo realistic presentations.
To further improve the visual representation of materials options have been added to enable casting and receiving of shadows, and a “high quality” option when using transparency.
