CATIA TIP 1
How to create PDF files on CATIA V5 on both UNIX and Windows platforms without Acrobat software?
CATIA V5 can create pdf files on Windows and on UNIX via:
1. File/Save As... and choosing pdf file from the pull down -or-
2. File/Print to a 3D PLM PDF Printer
CATIA V5 allows pdf file creation without the need for Adobe Acrobat software to be installed.
The problem was resolved by creating a 3D PLM printer in CATIA V5, using File/Printer Setup..., Add Printer, and configuring a 3D PLM Printer using the CATIA-supplied PDF Driver. This technique works on Windows and UNIX.
An alternative to create pdf files is to use File/Save As.. a pdf file, but there are no "knobs" (orientation, etc.) to tweak using this approach, so the File/Print command using the 3D PLM Printer is probably the better approach.

CATIA TIP 2
All CATIA icons / buttons turn blank after working for a period of time. Most likely to occur after memory intensive activities such as NC tool path replay.
Problem is caused by graphics related memory leaks for Environments - CATIA V5, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server
To Resolve the problem
Install Microsoft Hot Fix associated with KB 319740 Link:

CATIA TIP 3
Is there a way for LUM to provide a warning message in advance, such as a 30-day notice, concerning license keys that will expire within a specific time period?
There is currently no advanced warning mechanism provided by LUM for licenses that are soon to expire. LUM's i4blt CLI (Command Line Interface) and i4blt GUI (Graphical User Interface) can be used to query the expiration dates of enrolled licenses, but no warning message regarding expiring licenses is provided via i4blt.
For V4 CATIA Levels the use of the data parameter "catlic.WARNING_DATE" can be used.
When used, this data parameter displays a message in the NEWS panel upon CATIA logon to warn the user that the license in the panel will remain available for the displayed number of days.
