of Amrita University, Coimbatore on 11th October 2013.

Mr. Ravikumar, National Manager – Technical Training, EDST delivered guest lecture on IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) for the students of Amrita University, Coimbatore. The session was very lively with real life examples related to IPR drawn from his working experience in the field. During the session the topics covered were related to different forms of IPR and patent regime in India apart from motivating the students to take up creative and innovative projects based on spin off technologies. The audience pool was comprised of M Tech, B Tech, and couple of faculties from Mechanical department. EDST received a very good feedback on the session from the audience pool which reflects that the session was intriguing and an eye opener for most of them. The faculties and students expressed their view that this kind of sessions to be organized on regular basis to enhance the student skills.

The beginnings of Amrita University can be traced to 1994 when a School of Engineering was started in an obscure village named Ettimadai, at the foothills of Bouluvanpatty ranges of the Western Ghats in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. At that time there were 120 students and 13 faculty members. Today, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has five campuses in three different states of India. There is a student population of over 12,000 and faculty strength of nearly 1500. Over 120 UG, PG and doctoral programs are offered.
